Tamborine Mountain Creative Arts Association Inc. (TMCA) is a not-for-profit community association that has been in existence since 1975. Our foundation members had the idea that a handcraft association was needed for the locals. We began in a timber hut on private premises and fundraised to get us to where we are today.

The main hall is used for General Craft such as quilting, crochet, knitting, embroidery or basket weaving every Wednesday morning. It’s quite a social group. Bridge, Mahjong, Painting, Creative Writing and our Mens’ Group are also held in the main hall.

Another room is used by the Patchwork, Embroidery, Machine Sewing, Wearable Arts, Botanic Drawing, Life Drawing, Natural Weaving, “ The Yarners” and the Wood Artisans groups.

You’ll also find a fully equipped Pottery shed and kiln. If you’ve ever wanted to get your hands dirty with clay, there are several pottery groups available from Throwing to Sculpture and Hand Building.

See the schedule for group activities.

Self help and instruction from within the Group is our paramount aim at TMCA. As members become proficient, they are able to help new members in their chosen craft or art. In this way “self-help” becomes a reality and provides a worthwhile weekly occupation and social gathering for everyone involved.

We are sure that you will find us a friendly and helpful group where you can relax and enjoy yourself whilst indulging in your creative arts.
